I'm sharing this with you because it's not information that I write on myself but it's valuable, straight forward and provided by an expert from whom I learn much. She's one of my mentors. Also, over the last six months I've advised at least five clients to commit to blogs to get their writings and books exposure and sales. I want you to be successful in every area of life, and if I don't give you the wisdom directly, I'll point you in the right direction. Are thinking about blogging but just don’t know where to start? Here are 5 quick tips for the serious blogger: 1. Get off the freebie blog sites. You may be comfy there and it may be easy because they host everything for you - including your photos and audios - but if you’re trying to build something lasting and make money at it, at the very least you need to OWN IT! That means buy your own domain and start blogging there. Inbox me and I can get you started blogging in a weekend! I got my husband’s blog up and running in less than an hour, and it only took that long because he was deciding on a template. 2. You need to understand and start using social networks. Sure you may love Facebook and hate Twitter or you may hate Twitter and love Instagram, but if you’re trying to spread the word about your blog you’re going to have to learn how to draw people to your blog not just by using what you like to use but by using what your target audience uses as well. That also means you’re going to have to break out of your stifling tight circle of church or work friends, too. Yep, you’ll have to reach out and let complete strangers like, follow and/or friend you ... oh my! 3. Guest Blogging is an option. But it’s an option you don’t want to abuse. You don’t want to harass popular bloggers and gurus with requests to come to your blog and share all that they know. If your blog has nothing to offer them in terms of traffic or even a free ad for 3 months it’s a bit unfair. A better option is to build your reputation and traffic a bit first before you launch out in search of guest bloggers, or even just begin sharing what you know. Become the expert of your own blog before you go looking outside of your blog and once the traffic starts coming guest bloggers won’t mind coming along for the ride too. Read more. |
